Steps in the Research Process


Step One: Pre-research & topic background and develop list of keywords associated with your topic

Step Two: Search for appropriate sources (required: books, reference books, databases) using keywords and Boolean search

Step Three: Develop statement of purpose & essential questions

Step Four: Create citations for all sources (ongoing) using Easybib (sign in with your school account)

Step Five: Take notes using electronic or print note-taking tool

          Use  Easybib or print notecard template or digital notecard template

Step Six: Develop thesis statement

Step Seven: Organize Notes and Outline

           Use Easybib or print outline form

Step Eight: Write works cited (use Easybib export option)

Step Nine: Write first draft and incorporate in-text citations
